How to Remove Candle Wax Stains

Candle wax can create both a wax residue and an oily stain. Fortunately, most wax stains can be removed successfully with patience and the correct method.

Step 1: Let the Wax Harden

Do not try to wipe away melted wax. Allow it to cool completely. For faster results, place an ice pack over the wax.

Step 2: Remove Excess Wax

Gently scrape away as much hardened wax as possible using a dull knife or spoon.

Step 3: Use Heat to Lift Remaining Wax

Place a paper towel or clean cloth over the wax. Apply a warm iron on a low setting for a few seconds. The remaining wax should transfer to the paper towel. Replace the towel as needed.
