Step 1: Freeze the Wax

Place the item in the freezer for 30 minutes to harden the wax. Once hard, use a blunt knife to carefully scrape off as much wax as possible.

Step 2: Apply Dish Soap

Apply a generous amount of dish soap directly to the remaining stain. The dish soap cuts through the wax and dye components.

Step 3: Scrub Gently

Use an old toothbrush to gently scrub the dish soap into the stain. Work in circular motions for 3–5 minutes.

Step 4: Wash on Warm Cycle

Wash on a warm (not hot) cycle. The warmth helps release the remaining wax while the detergent lifts the dye. Check before drying.

Step 5: Special Care for Linen

After treatment, lay the linen flat on a clean towel and roll it gently to remove excess moisture. Hang or lay flat to dry — never wring linen, as it permanently distorts the weave.

Linen creases and shrinks if exposed to high heat or rough handling. Always work gently with cool water — its natural fibres respond well to patience. Avoid hot water, bleach on coloured linen, and aggressive scrubbing. Never tumble dry on high heat.

WD-40 is highly effective on crayon — spray a small amount on the stain, let it sit for 5 minutes, then treat with dish soap. The oil in WD-40 dissolves the wax binder. — Wash linen in cool to lukewarm water (max 40°C) on a gentle cycle. Air drying is preferred to preserve fibres and prevent shrinkage.
