Step 1: Remove Solid Residue

Use a spoon or blunt knife to carefully scoop up any solid food. Work gently to avoid spreading or pressing it deeper into the fabric.

Step 2: Cold Water Rinse

Flush the stain from the back with cold water. Never use hot water on food stains as it can cook proteins into the fibers permanently.

Step 3: Apply Laundry Pre-treatment

Apply a laundry pre-treatment spray or a mix of dish soap and cold water. Gently work it into the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Step 4: Wash on Cold Cycle

Wash the item on a cold cycle. Check before placing in the dryer — heat will permanently set any remaining stain.

Step 5: Special Care for Silk

Before any treatment, test your cleaning solution on a hidden seam. Blot only — never scrub. After treatment, rinse with cold water and roll in a clean towel to absorb moisture. Lay flat to dry away from sunlight.

Silk is extremely delicate. Never rub, wring, or use alkaline cleaners. Even water can leave marks if not treated carefully — always blot and air dry flat. Avoid all alcohol-based cleaners, bleach, and enzyme detergents — they will permanently damage silk fibres.
