Step 1: Remove Excess Makeup

Gently scrape off any excess makeup with a spoon or blunt knife. Do not rub — this pushes pigment deeper into the fibers.

Step 2: Apply Micellar Water or Makeup Remover

Apply micellar water or oil-free makeup remover to a clean cloth and blot the stain. This breaks down the makeup's binding agents.

Step 3: Dish Soap Treatment

Apply a small amount of dish soap directly to the stain. Gently work it in with your fingers for 2 minutes, then let it sit for 5 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse and Check

Rinse thoroughly with cold water. For stubborn pigment, a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball can help lift the remaining color.

Step 5: Special Care for Carpet

After treating the stain, place a thick layer of clean white towels over the area and weigh them down. Leave for 30 minutes to absorb remaining moisture from deep in the carpet pile.

Never oversaturate carpet — excess moisture seeps into the backing and underlay, causing mould and permanent odour damage. Avoid scrubbing — it damages carpet fibres and spreads the stain. Always blot from the outside inward.
