Step 1: Do Not Rub — Blot Only

If the polish is still wet, blot gently with a clean cloth to absorb as much as possible. Rubbing will spread the polish and push it deeper.

Step 2: Apply Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover

Apply a small amount of non-acetone nail polish remover to a cotton ball. Test on a hidden area first, then gently blot the stain from the outside in.

Step 3: Work Gradually

Work slowly and methodically. Use fresh cotton balls frequently so you're lifting the polish, not spreading it. Patience is key here.

Step 4: Rinse and Wash

Once the polish is removed, rinse with cold water and apply dish soap to remove any residue. Wash on a cool cycle.

Step 5: Special Care for Mattress

After treatment, sprinkle baking soda generously across the area to absorb residual moisture and odours. Leave for at least 4–6 hours (ideally overnight), then vacuum thoroughly. Air the mattress before re-dressing.

Mattresses cannot be saturated — excess liquid soaks into the foam or springs and causes mould, odours, and permanent damage. Use as little moisture as humanly possible. Never use a steam cleaner unless specifically rated for mattresses. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals — they damage foam and leave residues you'll sleep on.
