Step 1: Blot Up Liquid

Press clean paper towels firmly into the area to soak up as much urine as possible. Stand on them if needed. Replace until the towels come up dry.

Step 2: Rinse with Cold Water

Pour a small amount of cold water on the area and blot again. This dilutes the urine and pulls more of it out of the fibres or padding.

Step 3: Apply Enzyme Cleaner

Saturate the area with an enzyme-based pet stain cleaner. Enzymes break down the uric acid crystals that ordinary cleaners leave behind — this is what removes both the stain and the smell.

Step 4: Let It Work and Air Dry

Cover with a clean cloth and let the enzyme cleaner work for the full time stated on the bottle (often several hours). Air dry completely before allowing pets back on the area.

Step 5: Special Care for Denim

Treat stains from the inside of the garment when possible — this pushes the stain out rather than further into the fibres. Always wash inside-out to keep colour vibrant.

Denim's indigo dye runs easily — especially on dark or unwashed jeans. Always test on a hidden seam, and never mix coloured denim with light fabrics during cleaning. Avoid hot water, bleach, and chlorine. These fade the indigo and weaken the fabric structure over time.

Never use ammonia-based cleaners on pet urine — pets associate the smell with their own marking and will return to the same spot. Vinegar can mask the smell temporarily, but only enzymes fully eliminate it. — Wash denim in cold water inside-out to protect the dye. Air drying preserves shape and colour better than tumble drying.
