Pet Urine on Tile & Grout

Press clean paper towels firmly into the area to soak up as much urine as possible. Stand on them if needed. Replace until the towels come up dry.

Pour a small amount of cold water on the area and blot again. This dilutes the urine and pulls more of it out of the fibres or padding.

Saturate the area with an enzyme-based pet stain cleaner. Enzymes break down the uric acid crystals that ordinary cleaners leave behind — this is what removes both the stain and the smell.

Cover with a clean cloth and let the enzyme cleaner work for the full time stated on the bottle (often several hours). Air dry completely before allowing pets back on the area.

For grout specifically, after cleaning, apply a clear grout sealer once dry. This prevents future staining and makes the next clean much easier. Re-seal grout every 12–18 months.
